A lot of people would agree that the ‘the weight of love’ concept is abstract and has no connection to the physical realm. However, the idea was switched as the 1 million-plus love locks were removed from the Pont des Arts bridge in Paris. These lovelocks were removed due to safety concerns and the overbearing weight of the lovelocks on the bridge.

While this seems like a direct attack on romanticism, Parisian lovers should not give up on romance just yet. There’s a new NFT platform in town known as ‘WeLockLove’. This platform is on a revolutionary mission to use thousands of images of individual lovelock from the Paris bridge.

Coupled with other forms of creative initiatives, WeLockLove will enable lovers to reconnect with their lovelock via NFTs. The platform hopes this initiative will allow romance to prevail on the blockchain.

Become a Keeper of History

Alexis, a photographer by profession, took about 40,000 pictures of individual lovelocks Pont des Arts bridge in Paris in 2013. This massive photo collection thus prompted the launch of the  WeLockLove website in the year that followed. The website offers a fantasy space that allowed individuals to connect to their precious lovelock virtually.

Since its launch, various plans have been executed to improve the concept. And right now, couples who believe Alexis took a picture of their lovelock can visit the WeLockLove database. Couples that can find their lovelock will then receive a free NFT of their lovelocks.

To create the database, the WeLockLove platform is calling for volunteers in the community to help describe the properties of each lovelock. These volunteers in turn will also earn exclusive NFTs for their contribution.

In another attempt to also commemorate the once-supposedly lost lovelocks of the Pont des Arts bridge, WeLockLove is et to launch another NFT. The NFT is dubbed ‘The Original’ which is said to be a distinct combination of the 40,000 pictures snapped by Alexis. There will be about 915 collections of the ‘The Original’ and 90% will be for sale while the other 10% will be randomly given away as rewards.

The Bridge of the Future

WeLockLove has also partnered with Artgence 3D, to create a 3D metaverse experience for individuals to digitally express and create their artistic feelings. The metaverse platform is dubbed ‘The Bridge of The Future’ and it was designed to pay impact on the photographic efforts of Alexis. The Metaverse will feature a restricted number of individual spaces, 37,374 spaces to be precise. These spaces will be used by individuals to showcase their ‘Lovelock of the Future’ art.

To add to this, the design of both the ‘LoveLocks of the Future,’ and the 3D ’Bridge of the Future,’ will be determined via a community contest. For more information, digital artists can get in touch with WeLockLove through their Twitter account .
