Snoop Dogg is ready to switch Death Row Records, the legendary hip-hop record he just acquired into an NFT label.
On the 14th of February 2022, Snoop Dogg, via a Clubhouse chatroom revealed his plans to venture deeper into the non-fungible token realm. The discussions of the chatroom were recorded and later uploaded on YouTube to reach a wider audience.
During the session, the rapper affirmed that Death Row will be featuring their artists via the metaverse and other music chains. Snoop went on to say he wants to be the first major in the metaverse. This goal follows the path of how they broke the industry as the first independent artists to become major. For this reason, he’s ready to swift the legendary hip-hop record into an NFT label.
Just last month, Snoop was appointed the official owner of Death Row Records. This is the same label that mixed and released his first two albums ‘Tha Doggfather’ and ‘Doggystyle’ which paved the way for him into mainstream media. The Death Row Records was established by Dr. Dre, Michael “Harry O” Harris, and Suge Knight in 1991.
Upon announcing that Snoop would become the official owner of Death Row Records, the rapper gave an emotional speech. He professed how good of a feeling it was for him to have ownership of the label that launched his career. He affirmed it was a very significant moment for him to own the record label.

Just a few days after the announcement, Snoop released a new album titled ‘B.O.D.R.’ (‘Bacc On Death Row’). The album was released on the 11th of February 2022 few days before announcing his NFT moves for the record label. As part of Snoop’s endeavor to venture into the crypto and NFT space, his latest album was released on the blockchain. The record release on the blockchain was made possible via its partnership with the Gala Games platform.
Through Death Row Records’ partnership with Gala Games, all tracks on the B.O.D.R album were released as an NFT. Fans also get the chance to attend a barbecue at Snoop’s crib if able to collect all 17 NFTs.
Last weekend, Snoop also performed alongside, Mary J. Blige, Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, Anderson. Paak and 50 cents, at the Super Bowl Halftime Show. Snoop Dogg performed ‘Still D.R.E.’, and ‘The Next Episode’ and also gave a tribute to his late mother while performing.
